How Word Counter Pro Counts Text
Modern writing can contain punctuation, accented characters, emoji, hyphenated terms and languages that do not always use spaces in the same way as English. Word Counter Pro uses the browser's Unicode-aware text segmentation when that feature is available, with a fallback method for older browsers.
This provides a more sensible result than simply treating every group of non-space characters as a word.
