How to convert Markdown to HTML

  1. Paste Markdown into the editor, or open a local .md, .markdown or .txt file.
  2. Choose output: select an HTML fragment for a CMS block or a complete HTML page for a standalone document.
  3. Check the live preview to see headings, lists, tables and code blocks as they would appear in a browser.
  4. Copy or download the result. Review the HTML before publishing it on a website.
Important: This converter treats raw HTML in your Markdown as text and restricts generated HTML to a limited set of elements and safe URL schemes. The preview runs in a sandbox with network requests blocked. The result is not a replacement for security review when publishing untrusted content.

- First task
- Second task

Expected HTML: a <h2> heading, a <p> paragraph with <strong> and <a> elements, followed by a <ul> containing two list items.

HTML fragment or complete document?

HTML fragment: best when your WordPress Custom HTML block, content management system or existing page supplies the document structure. Avoid adding a second <html>, <head> or <body> inside a page.

Complete HTML document: adds document-level tags and a minimal stylesheet so the downloaded file can be opened as a standalone page. A complete document is not a WordPress body snippet.

Why does my converted HTML look different in WordPress?

HTML defines content structure; your website theme controls much of its appearance. A Markdown heading may become an <h2>, but WordPress and your theme decide its font, spacing and color. Review the output inside the actual editor and keep only one main page H1 where appropriate.

Markdown images are converted into image tags, but the sandboxed preview intentionally blocks remote image loading. Check image URLs and usage rights in the destination website before publishing.

Common Markdown conversion mistakes

Unexpected line breaks

Regular Markdown combines adjacent text lines into one paragraph. Change the single-line-break setting if you want visible breaks on every line.

Broken links or images

Use complete HTTPS links or appropriate relative paths. Unsafe schemes such as javascript: are not included in generated links.

Raw HTML in input

Existing HTML tags are displayed as text rather than run as embedded code. Add trusted, reviewed custom HTML separately if you need it.
