How to Make Muse Forget Something About You
Muse is designed to remember information that helps it personalize future work. Meta says people can always tell Muse to forget specific things it has learned.
This makes “forget” useful when your problem is not the entire conversation but one piece of personal context that you no longer want Muse to rely on.

Perhaps you previously told Muse that you prefer morning appointments, but your schedule changed. You may not need to delete every conversation that mentioned appointments. Instead, ask Muse to forget that preference.

Keep the request specific. “Forget everything about me” is much broader than “forget that I prefer morning appointments.”
Is Muse Memory the Same as Chat History?
Treat them as separate concepts.
Chat history refers to conversations you have had with Muse. Remembered information refers to context Muse has learned and may use to personalize later assistance.
Deleting a visible conversation should therefore not be assumed to have exactly the same effect as explicitly telling Muse to forget a remembered detail unless Meta documents that relationship for the specific control.
How to Disconnect Apps From Muse
Meta says people decide which services Muse can connect to and how much access each connection receives.

Meta says Muse does not share a person’s conversations or the data inside their Muse Secure VM with Meta’s advertising systems.
That is an important privacy claim, but it should be described precisely.
It does not necessarily mean every action carried out through Muse can never interact with another service, website or Meta product that has its own data or advertising behavior. The safest wording is therefore:
Avoid turning that into the much broader statement “nothing you ever do with Muse can affect advertising.” Those are not the same claim.
What Is Muse Secure VM?
Meta says Muse runs inside a dedicated cloud-based virtual machine called Muse Secure VM.
According to Meta, that VM stores data and credentials for connected services, while Muse itself does not see a person’s passwords or payment methods. A separate Sentinel agent evaluates actions and can ask for approval before sensitive steps.
This is still cloud-based processing. “Secure VM” should not be confused with AI that runs entirely on your phone or computer.

Can Muse See Your Passwords?
Meta says Muse itself does not have visibility into passwords or payment methods.
Credentials that a user provides are placed into secure storage so Muse can use them without seeing them directly, according to Meta’s description of the system.
That does not remove the need to be selective about which accounts you connect. A system does not need to reveal your password to have meaningful access to the account after you authorize it.
Is Muse AI Opt Out the Same as Instagram Muse Image Privacy?
No. This is an especially important distinction because older search results can mix together Muse, the personal AI agent and Muse Image, Meta’s image-generation model.
In July 2026, Meta initially announced a Muse Image feature that could reference public Instagram accounts in image prompts. After feedback, Meta updated its announcement on July 10, 2026 and said that specific public-account reference feature was no longer available.
Therefore, older tutorials telling users to change an Instagram setting specifically to block that original @-mention Muse Image feature should not be treated as the current Muse AI opt out process for the personal AI agent.
